Three Senior Men’s Lobstick champions named after thunderstorm cuts playoffs short
Mother Nature had a say in who would win the 2021 Fountain Tire Senior Men’s Lobstick. Because of her interference, the top prize was split three ways.
A pair of Prince Albert golfers in Martin Ring and Cliff Selander, as well as Chilliwack, B.C.’s Roger Gilhespy were all tied for the top spot at nine-over-par after three complete rounds. After three playoff holes did nothing to separate Ring, Selander and Gilhespy, lightning struck and the tournament was forced to halt.
Now Ring, Selander and Gilhespy’s names will all be etched into the Senior Men’s Lobstick trophy, in the same year.
In the Super Seniors event, Coleville’s Gary Tuffs was able to claim the top prize before any weather interference. He shot a 16-over-par 226 over the three rounds.
