Weldon 4-H Beef Club Report

Jun 11, 2021 | 9:06 AM

Our 4-H Club has been busy!

Let’s get caught up.

We held our club speeches on March 13th. Congratulations to the members that placed at our club level to move onto the District Level:

  • Cloverbud – Brady Hansen
  • Junior – Ava Timm
  • Intermediate – Rylan MacGillivray
  • Senior – Courtney Hansen

On March 29th and 30th, we were fortunate to have our North East 4-H Representative, Shelby Longworth, join us virtually to host project meetings for our members. The Cloverbud and Juniors had a clinic on how to do their record books, while the Intermediate and Seniors learned about Resumes and Job Interviews. Thank you Shelby, for taking the time to help guide our members on these topics!

April 10th was District Speeches for the members that moved on. These were held virtually. Congratulations to all who took part and represented our club. You all did a great job!

The club had a fun afternoon on April 24th!

We got to go and visit Dr. Victor Kernaleguen at the Gateway Vet Clinic in Melfort. Our brains were filled with information when we left, as we learnt about a lot of things. Dr. Victor showed us everything from semen testing bulls, to how to do injections and the types of injections to give our cattle, followed by a post-mortem on a calf. Thank you to Dr. Victor, for taking time out of his busy schedule to host our club.

Due to the current restrictions still in place, our fundraising auction that we usually have at our Achievement Day was moved online this year. Thank you to everyone who donated and took part in our Facebook Auction that was held in May.

Our club recently received a very generous donation that we would like to give a big shout out to. Thank you to a local group who wishes to remain anonymous for their donation of $1800. We greatly appreciate it!

Our Achievement Day this year will be held on June 12th followed by the Prince Albert 4-H Finished Beef Show & Sale on June 13th and 14th. Due to no spectators, the Regional Show & Sale will be available to watch online at www.dlms.ca.

Good luck to all our members!
