McLennan re-elected in landslide victory

Incumbent Sherry Ann McLennan has emerged on top in a four-person race for regional director of Metis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN-S) Western Region 2.

McLennan received 866 votes, roughly four times that of her nearest competitor, according to unofficial election results posted on the MN-S website.

“It shows that they think I’m doing something right,” McLennan told paNOW, referring to the strong support she received from voters. “So hopefully I can do them proud for another four years.”

She said her top priorities for her second term include healthcare, harvesting rights and registering more Métis citizens.

She also wants to build a cultural centre that will serve as a “one stop shop for Métis services” in Prince Albert.

“I just want to thank everyone who supported me, stood by me and everyone who will work with me in the next four years in making the Métis people proud of their culture and proud to be Métis,” McLennan said.
