Designs for Rotary Adventure Park give sneak peek to final product

During one of their online fundraising campaigns, the Rotary Club of Prince Albert gave everybody a first look at what the Rotary Adventure Park at Little Red could look like.

In the designs displayed on their Facebook page, there are three separate play areas, including a large green play structure complete with a slide, climbing towers, ladders, and other features to explore.

P.A. Rotary president Keith Fonstad said the designs will be finalized within the next month, but he only anticipates small alterations to be made, if any.

“Anything else that’s going to happen is going to be a minor change,” Fonstad said. “That’s what it’s going to look like, with the potential for some minor changes.”

The Rotary Adventure Park will look to cater to kids and younger adolescents while staying true to Little Red’s vibe.

“The idea is to be in the 8-14 age range, with a higher intensity play to match the environment of Little Red,” Fonstad said. “We wanted something that’s not available anywhere else in Prince Albert, that would be appropriate for the park the size of Little Red, but still provide service to whole families, to make sure the young kids and older adults are accounted for, as well.”

In addition to the play structures, Fonstad said the Rotary Club is working with the City of Prince Albert, as well as sponsors and donors to develop the area around the playground. Picnic shelters, washrooms, a user-friendly parking lot and lighting are all on the table. In a second phase, Fonstad said the sliding hill could be rebuilt as well.

The Rotary Club of Prince Albert is currently raising money with their Lobsterfest. The 50/50 jackpot is over $7,500 as of Thursday morning. Fonstad also said ticket sales for the Raffle Lottery have also picked up some steam, and the club has been happy with the response.

Tickets have been on sale since April 10 and end on May 12, with the draw taking place on May 13 at 7 p.m.
