It took a tiebreaker, but now the playoffs have been set for the 2019 New Holland Canadian Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships in Prince Albert.

British Columbia’s Sarah Daniels beat Quebec’s Laurie St-Georges 8-6 in the tiebreaker match earlier Friday at the Art Hauser Centre to advance to the semifinals. On her last rock, Daniels performed a clean hit for two to win the match in 10 ends.

Daniels turned the game around in the seventh end. Down 4-2, Daniels’ successful double-takeout gave B.C. a huge four-ender. St-Georges was able to tie it up in the eighth with two points of her own, but Daniels blanked the ninth end before scoring two in the 10th.

B.C.’s win puts them in the semifinals matchup against defending world champion Kaitlyn Jones and Team Nova Scotia. That’s slated for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre.
