Warmer weather on the horizon in Saskatchewan
Temperatures could hit highs of 10 Celcius in places like Prince Albert and the Battlefords by the weekend. A high of 11 C is in the forecast for the Melfort area.
Meteorologist Terri Lang with Environment Canada said temperatures will struggle a bit more to get warm in areas with a lot of snow cover, while locations with less or no snow have the possibility of breaking temperature records.
An upper ridge is giving Saskatchewan the nice temperatures but will sag a bit and somewhat collapse, according to Lang. A low-pressure system will move through the south bringing in the cooler air and more seasonal temperatures.
“Thirty-year averages see highs around minus four and overnight lows of minus 16 so probably closer to those values or maybe a little warmer,” said Lang.
