920 vaccines administered in North Central Friday, 264 new cases, 4 deaths, 145 recoveries

The North Central zone of the province received 920 of the 2,412 COVID-19 vaccines administered on Friday, the Saskatchewan Health Authority announced in their Saturday report.

The province has now given 41,254 vaccines, after receiving 11,850 doses this week. The rest of Friday’s doses were distributed as follows: 545 to the North West, 54 to the Far North Central, 11 to the North East, 595 to Saskatoon, 145 to Central East and 142 to South East.

There are 264 new cases of COVID-19 to report on Saturday, bringing the provincial total to date to 25,209 cases.

Four Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Two deaths were reported in the 50-59 age group from the Far North West (one) and North West (one) zones; and two deaths were reported in the 80+ age group from the Regina (one) and South East (one) zones.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (12), Far North Central (four), Far North East (nine), North West (31), North Central (13), North East (nine), Saskatoon (58), Central West (seven), Central East (27), Regina (61), South Central (six) and South East (11) zones, and sixteen (16) cases with pending residence information.

Eight cases with pending resident information were assigned to the Far North West (one), Far North East (one), North West (one), North Central (one), Central East (one), Regina (two) and South East (one) zones. One case was found to be a duplicate and removed from the Regina (one) zone.

A total of 22,460 individuals have recovered and 2,413 cases are considered active.

Two hundred and seven (207) people are in hospital. One hundred and eighty (180) people are receiving inpatient care: Far North West (two), North West (21), North Central (22), North East (three), Saskatoon (67), Central West (one), Central East (10), Regina (50) and South East (4). Twenty-seven (27) people are in intensive care: North West (one), North Central (one), Saskatoon (11), Central East (three), Regina (10) and South West (one).

There were 3,149 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on February 5, 2021.

To date, 524,222 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. As of February 4, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 442,082 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 580,079 tests performed per million population.

Enforcing Public Health Measures

Enforcement of public health orders is permitted under The Public Health Act, 1994. Public health inspectors will be supported in their efforts to ticket violators quickly to ensure that businesses and events are brought into compliance as quickly as possible, in addition to the enforcement efforts that have been undertaken by police agencies throughout the province.
