Prince Albert Literacy Network is hosting a family event on January 23rd, 2020 to launch the Start of Family Literacy week, as declared by the Government of Saskatchewan. We are joining literacy organizations across Canada in celebrating National Family Literacy Day on January 27th, 2020. Families are invited to explore the Gateway Mall as they discover the pages of the book, Never Rub Noses with a Narwhal, written by Ruth Wellborn. The book will end at the Prince Albert Literacy office where participating families will receive a FREE family fun kit, including everything you need to have a great family games night and a copy of the book!

The story adventure will remain up in the mall for the duration of family literacy week! Kits will be available on a first come first serve basis!
Event Date: January 27th, 2021
Time: 10:30 am
Place: Online event (more details to follow)
In partnership with the Saskatchewan Literacy Network and the Saskatchewan Family Literacy Hubs (funded by the Provincial Literacy and Library office), we are excited to promote the online reading and story stretcher activity by Ruth Wellborn and her book: Never Rub Noses with a Narwhal. This event along with 1,000 copies of the book have been distributed across the province!
“Ruth Wellborn is an educator, who lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her first exposure to belugas and polar bears was in Churchill Manitoba, when as a university student, she worked for the Canadian National Railway. She was immediately captivated, and has maintained that interest with many familial connections to the North. Her daughter, who lives in Yellowknife, encouraged the writing of this book.”
Classrooms and daycares are encouraged to participate in the reading and those interested can also contact the Prince Albert Literacy Network for a FREE copy of the book!

Dolly Parton Imagination Library Prince Albert Chapter Official Registration Launch
In partnership with the Prince Albert Literacy Network, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Prince Albert (DPILPA) is excited to announce that we will open online registrations on March 1, 2021. We are accepting paper registrations (available at the PALN office) starting now. This means that enrolled children will receive their first books in April of 2021! To register contact the Prince Albert Literacy Network via Facebook or by phoning the office at (306) 922-6736.
In order to allow as many children as possible to participate, fundraising for this important project is ongoing. There are many ways to support DPILPA: online https://imaginationlibrary.com/ca/, by bringing your recyclables to SARCAN and using the code “DPILPA”, and by purchasing tickets to our upcoming raffle (more details to follow). We are also issuing a challenge to all of our local municipal, provincial and federal politicians to contribute personally, and hope to hear back from them soon!
