CIBC donates $20,000 to the Rose Garden Hospice

The CIBC has joined the fundraising campaign for the Rose Garden Hospice by donating $20,000 Monday afternoon.

The large donation helps the Rose Garden Hospice reach a total of $2.25 million of its $4 million goal.

Pierre Leblanc, manager for commercial banking for CIBC, said it’s been a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of donating.

“Malcolm Jenkins presented this opportunity and gave us a portfolio of information so at that point we decided to be part of this,” he said. “We hope others become part of this as well. It’s a good program and it sounds like by the numbers they’re almost there and we’re hoping other people come forward to make that happen.”

He explained after speaking with their donation department, they decided to pitch in which came directly from CIBC.

“It gives us an opportunity to be a part of people in their final stages of life that Prince Albert and area will benefit from having such a place,” he said. “I don’t think there is very many in the province or in Western Canada so we’re very lucky to have this, so I know they’ve been working on it for a long time and we just took it as an opportunity to be a part of it and to benefit the people of Prince Albert and area.”

Canadian Tire Owner Malcolm Jenkins said he will donate $25,000 at the end of the month. So far, the Rose Garden Hospice is still planning to begin construction of the facility in the spring.
