The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be bringing back on of their top players in the secondary in 2021.

Defensive back Nick Marshall signed a one-year extension that will keep him in green and white for the upcoming season. He was set to be a free agent in February.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a successful sophomore campaign in the CFL in 2019 with the team. He recorded 39 tackles, five interceptions – third-most in the CFL – one touchdown and a fumble recovery in 17 games.

During his first season with the Riders, Marshall recorded 26 tackles, three interceptions, two touchdowns and a forced fumble.

Marshall, who played quarterback for two seasons for the Auburn Tigers, can provide a spark on offence as well, scoring seven touchdowns in 2018.

Marshall re-joins a secondary that only gave up 228.8 yards a game in 2019, second fewest in the league.
