The public health messages surrounding COVID-19 may still be sinking in for many people in the Prince Albert area, according to the latest statistics from the Prince Albert Police Service.

For the period ending Nov. 5, the police service received 105 COVID compliance-related calls. When broken down, there were 50 complaints for people not complying to group protocols, nine related to business compliance, three people who reportedly did not self-isolate after a positive test, and 18 complaints related to people not social distancing.

The other complaints had to do with people not isolating when they had symptoms. The police service has not charged anyone with non-compliance of the Public Health Order as of yet.

The updated numbers were discussed during Monday’s Board of Police Commissioners meeting.

RCMP

From March 1, 2020, to November 30, 2020, the Saskatchewan RCMP received a total of 3,300 COVID-related calls for service. Of these, 49 have resulted in charges.

The vast majority of the calls for service were resolved by educating individuals about the Public Health Orders (PHO) in place and the potential health and enforcement consequences that can result from non-compliance with the PHO.

Just for the month of November, Saskatchewan RCMP received 342 COVID-related calls for service:

· 128 complaints of individuals not self-isolating;

· 92 large gathering complaints;

· 20 masking complaints;

· 14 traveller check complaints; and

· 88 other COVID-related complaints.

Of these calls for service, police have charged seven individuals under the Province’s Public Health Orders.

The location of the charges are identified in accordance with the provincial government’s COVID-19 map, which provides detailed information on the location of cases across Saskatchewan divided into 13 zones.

These charges are not a criminal offence. For this reason, the names of the individuals charged will not be released by the RCMP.
