45-year-old man facing three charges, accused of attempting to break into mailboxes
A 45-year-old man has been charged with mischief, assault of a police officer, and possession of a concealed weapon after allegedly attempting to break into a set of mailboxes.
Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) spotted two people attempting to break into a set of mailboxes on the 1700 block of Ninth Avenue West at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening while on patrol.
A female suspect fled the area while the man continued to hit the mailboxes with an unknown object and ignored police commands to stop.
After a foot chase into an alley nearby, the suspect turned to confront an officer while still holding items the officer determined were “perceived weapons” according to Wednesday’s release from PAPS. After the suspect did not comply, a Taser was used to subdue the suspect.
