Prince Albert Fire Department asking public for help removing snow from covered fire hydrants
After the heavy snowfall Prince Albert and the rest of the province received last weekend the Prince Albert Fire Department is asking the public for assistance.
Fire Chief Kris Olsen told paNOW they’ve noticed after residents have shovelled their driveways and the streets have been plowed, some of the fire hydrants have been covered or blocked by snow.
“Our crews are diligently out digging out these hydrants. We just ask for the public’s assistance in if they have a hydrant on their property or adjacent to their property, to just take the time to dig out around the hydrant,” Olsen said. “Seconds count in the event of a fire and it would be a great public service.”
“The first issue is finding it in some instances so if we can’t see it or we can’t find it, especially when it’s in the evening it makes that fire fight very difficult.”
