Moe becomes latest Raider to be loaned to Junior A club

Nov 12, 2020 | 1:00 PM

On Wednesday, Spencer Moe became the latest full-time Prince Albert Raider to be loaned to Junior A.

Moe was loaned to the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) until Dec. 20 as per the WHL’s temporary transfer policy.

Moe is the longest current Raider eligible to return this season, having played 264 career games with the Raiders. He is one of three 20-year-olds that could return, alongside Justin Nachbaur and Max Paddock. Moe has 43 goals and 120 points in his career since he was drafted in 2014 by the Raiders. Moe had 19 goals and 51 points last season and was on the 2019 WHL Championship winning season.

Moe isn’t the only one to temporarily join an AJHL team, as fellow Calgary native Ozzy Wiesblatt was loaned to the Brooks Bandits on Nov. 2.

Three Raiders have applied their services to SJHL teams until Dec. 20. Landon Kosior joined with the Melville Millionaires, Nolan Allan headed up to La Ronge to play with the Ice Wolves while Eric Pearce is joining former Raider Cole Fonstad with the Estevan Bruins.

Kosior had three assists in a split against Pearce’s Bruins Nov. 6-7. Pearce had an assist in the home-and-home.

Allan scored one of the three Ice Wolves’ goals in their 7-3 defeat to the Nipawin Hawks on Nov. 6.

Nachbaur and Herman’s Blizzard tenure likely coming to an end

Raiders forwards Justin Nachbaur and Evan Herman’s loan to the OCN Blizzard is likely already over.

The pair of Raider forwards joined the Manitoba Junior Hockey League club on temporary transfers earlier this year. But on Thursday, the MJHL announced they have paused “all hockey activities” until Jan. 1, 2021. Since the temporary transfers expire on Dec. 20, that would shutdown Nachbaur and Herman’s season unless a decision to reverse the pause arises.

Nachbaur had two goals in a 7-4 win over the Dauphin Kings on Nov. 1. Herman had a goal and an assist in two games against the Kings this season.
