Oct 29, 2020 | 1:22 PM

CALGARY, AB. –– Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) has announced dates for producer and resolution meetings.

ABP Chair, Kelly Smith-Fraser, relates how this year’s producer meetings will take place entirely online, due to the impact of COVID-19.

“Alberta Beef Producers will host a virtual producer town hall on November 26 and two resolution meetings on December second and third. All three meetings will begin at 6:30-pm.”

“Producers will hear an overview of the work done by ABP this year and presentations from our national organizations. For those unable to attend, the town hall will be recorded and available to stream online.”

Smith-Fraser encourages producers to attend virtual resolution meetings “to debate issues and move resolutions:

“As always, our resolution process gives producers the opportunity to influence ABP policies, priorities an activities. Producers need to register for these meetings at AlbertaBeef.org/producers/events and resolutions can be submitted to the ABP office, prior to the resolution meetings, via email or fax.”

Smith-Fraser explains the delegate elections will be held by mail-in ballots, or, through voting on-line.

“A voter election package is being mailed to all eligible producers, who must choose only one method to cast their vote. The package includes all of the details on how to vote, the candidates information and where to register for the virtual meetings. Under the new zone structure, we have elections in the south-east and south-west zones.”

Smith-Fraser adds, “Producer input is critical to this process so please register and participates in these meetings.”
