Kirsch will serve fifth term as Batoche MLA

Sask. Party incumbent Delbert Kirsch will serve his fifth term as MLA, and is looking forward to the next four years.

He won with 4,084 votes which is 2,448 more than NDP candidate Lon Borgerson with 1,636 votes.

“Very glad to see it happen, I feel I’ve got more to contribute to our wonderful province,” Kirsch said. “What’s happened in the last 10 years, what the Sask. Party has done to grow and build this province is phenomenal.”

The Sask. Party won a majority government with 50 seats compared to the 11 obtained by the NDP. Some ridings are still awaiting results due to mail-in ballot counting.

“The people looked at it and like we said in our advertisement, ‘Who do you want to lead in the future?’” Kirsch said. “When you look at the way Scott Moe has handled COVID, the way we’ve handled the economy, the jobs that have been created, the schools and hospitals that have been built; people want the more of the same and so they backed us.”

When asked what his future plans are, he explained he wants to bring more roads, schools and better education to residents. He also added he wants to add more hospitals and doctors.

“It’s what Saskatchewan needs to create jobs, you know build it and they will come,” he explained. “Well that’s where we’re headed. Let’s keep building this province and growing this province.”

Kirsch said this was his toughest campaign ever because it was hard to mingle with the public due to the pandemic.

“They don’t want you at doors especially the elderly, so it was tough to communicate so you were running in the dark a lot. That was the challenge, but we got it done,” Kirsch added.

Kirsch was first elected in 2003, and was re-elected in 2007, 2011, 2016 and now 2020.

“We’re growing, building, we’ve got more resources than most provinces and let’s work hard and take our rightful place in this beautiful nation of Canada.”
