Police arrest 31-year-old man after robbery with rifle

The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) arrested a 31-year-old male suspect Tuesday evening after he allegedly robbed a business on Marquis Road with a gun.

According to a media release, at 7:20 p.m. the police arrived at the business at the 600 Block of Marquis Road after a man allegedly went inside with a long-barrelled rifle and left with an undisclosed amount of cash and other items.

Officers of the B Platoon with PAPS surrounded the area to arrest the man shortly after 9 p.m. and the firearm was found close by.

The members on scene were assisted by officers of the RCMP and the new Crime Suppression Team formed by PAPS earlier this month.

The man has been charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm, breach of court ordered release conditions and breach of undertaking in connection with the incident.

The name of the man has not been released yet as he made his first court appearance this morning.

The name of the business was not released by police. paNOW was informed by people who were at the scene and who had expressed concern over what had transpired.
