Wilson seeks fourth term as Sask. Party MLA for Sask. Rivers

Nadine Wilson has represented the constituency of Saskatchewan Rivers for the past 12 years, but appears to have some unfinished business.

In an emailed statement to paNOW Wilson expressed how proud she was of the Sask. Party’s accomplishments, both from across the province and locally in the region.

“Lower taxes, less red tape through our government’s red tape reduction strategy, and a friendly business investment climate have led to many new businesses here in the constituency, even in these uncertain COVID times,” she said.

If re-elected, Wilson has committed to lowering power bills for homeowners, renters, farmers and businesses. She has also pledged to help improve Wi-Fi and cellular service across the region, explaining how in today’s world, an internet-based business needs to have great connectivity.

“Websites and apps are needed to improve business services and provide access to government online services. Our constituents need to be able to fill in government forms, pay tax bills and register for government programs online,” she said.

Reflecting back on her time in office, Wilson said she was pleased to work she has done with the Ministry of Environment, overseeing the environmental assessment and impact statement of the proposed Star Diamond project. She added she was eager to see the local jobs created at Fort a la Corne Forest via that exploration project.

“I have always had an excellent relationship with our First Nation leadership here, and we’ve accomplished some wonderful things such as education centres at Big River First Nation, various partnerships, and education opportunities through Northwest Regional College and Cumberland college,” she said.

In addition to a number of highway improvement upgrades in the area, and the resurgence of the forest industry, Wilson said she was also proud of her party’s track record with job creation and opposition to the carbon tax.

“I and the Saskatchewan Party are offering a clear plan going forward: economic recovery out of the COVID crisis, a plan to responsibly balance our finances, and continued support for local business and industry. And we have the leadership and experience to get it done,” she said.

There are four other candidates in this constituency: Lyle Whitefish (NDP), Fred Lackie (Buffalo Party), Shaun Harris (Progressive Conservative Party of Sask.), and Marcia Neault (Green Party).
