Moe self-monitoring after announcement at COVID-19 exposure location in P.A.

Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe will be self-monitoring for 14 days following a campaign announcement in Prince Albert on Oct. 3.

The location of the announcement, Econo Lumber Mart, has been identified by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) as a COVID-19 exposure location.

Sask. Party communications director Jim Billington emailed a statement regarding the exposure Sunday afternoon.

“The business owner has confirmed that no attendees or participants in the announcement had contact with the individual that was the source of the potential exposure alert, nor were they in the same area of the individual,” the statement reads.

A number of precautionary measures were in place including physical distancing, mask usage, and hand sanitization during the announcement, according to the statement.

“In accordance with public health advice, individuals who were at the announcement including Premier Moe will self-monitor for 14 days. Premier Moe, his tour team, and the Saskatchewan Party candidates who attended the event have experienced no symptoms to date,” the statement continues.

If any of the Sask. Party individuals do experience symptoms, they will immediately self-isolate and seek testing, according to Billington.

In accordance with the public health guidelines issued by the SHA, individuals at COVID-19 exposure locations do not need to isolate if they aren’t experiencing symptoms.

They are asked to self-monitor for 14 days, but if symptoms do occur, they need to immediately self-isolate and call 811 to arrange for COVID-19 testing.
