Eco-friendly furniture maker eyes location north of P.A.

A unique and environmentally focused furniture leasing company plans to open a manufacturing facility north of Prince Albert at the old Wapawekka site.

Pivot Furniture Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Pivot Subscriptions, is in the process of being issued a building permit from the Rural Municipality (R.M.) of Buckland. The plans were briefly discussed during Monday’s R.M. council meeting.

The R.M.’s Director of Planning and Development Jason Kaptein later explained to paNOW the 80,000 square foot facility will essentially be where the furniture parts are made, recycled from the rejected wood from the local sawmills.

“We believe this company has an aggressive growth plan and we are happy they have chosen the Prince Albert area for their location,” Kaptein said.

paNOW attempted to contact Pivot Subscriptions by email, and was informed they would be happy to talk when there’s something more to report on. According to a letter provided to the R.M., the company plans to employ 20 people at the facility and expects one to 35 semi truck movements per day on average.
