There’s been a number of fires lately in the rural area around Prince Albert, and police are not ruling out the possibility of foul play.

Staff Sgt. Brian Kelly told paNOW there have nine fires in the last five weeks. Damage was done to a tractor, at least one structure, several dumpsters, and a number of vehicles.

“Some of them were in close proximity to the Rural Municipality (R.M.) of Buckland so a fire scene examiner from the province was called to help out,” Kelly said.

Kelly also explained the investigation is still underway and it’s too early to say whether the fires are related or not.

“We also ask that if there’s anybody in the public that has information about these fires or any other fires that we’d be happy to talk to them,” he said.

Information can be directed to either the Prince Albert RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
