Mazergroup has purchased three Saskatchewan farm equipment dealerships.

The Brandon-based company acquired Yorkton New Holland, Raymore New Holland and Watrous New Holland in a merger that took effect yesterday.

President and CEO Don Mazer said he is happy to add the dealerships to the chain.

“We look to build upon the relationships that have been created in these locations by continuing to offer great products, great service, and an expanded support network to keep our customers productive as possible,” he said.

This brings the total Mazergroup dealerships to 19, 14 in Manitoba and five in Saskatchewan.

Mazergroup will add 50 employees with the merger bringing the total to over 370.

The board of directors of Manitoba Ag Days have decided to shelve its trade show in 2021.

In a news release the board stated it did not feel it could safely carry out the indoor farm show due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roughly 45,000 people converge on Brandon’s Keystone Centre, to visit over 550 exhibitors and listen to speakers on topics related to crop production.

The show was originally slated to run Jan. 19 to 21, 2021.

Bunge Limited has formed a new partnership with Merit Functional Foods.

Bunge will provide a $30 million capital investment in Merit, giving the global ingredient supplier a minority interest in the Canadian-based company.

Merit CEO Ryan Bracken said having a global partner like Bunge will accelerate future plans.

“Bunge also holds a deep knowledge of international commodity markets which will help reinforce our canola business with customers globally,” Bracken said in a news release.

The partnership will expedite the construction of Merit’s state-of-the-art plant-based protein production facility in Winnipeg, where it will produce novel pea and canola protein ingredients.

It will be the only commercial-scale facility capable of producing food-grade canola protein in the world.

The plant is on track to be fully operational by December.
