Olga Boyechko
April 23, 1939 – August 9, 2020
Olga Boyechko passed away at 81 years of age, on August 9, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Olga was born on April 23, 1939 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Mary and John Kowaliuk of Foxford, Saskatchewan. She attended elementary school in a small one room school house near her parents farm, Old Foxford School and then attended Rivier Academy High School, in Prince Albert. In the spring of 1957 Olga met Joe Boyechko of Strongpine and they were married the next fall, on November 16, 1958 in Samburg Church.
Olga was a proud farm wife and mother as she worked alongside Joe on their family homestead, first in Strongpine and later in the Weirdale area. Mom loved her farm life, she thrived on the many daily tasks of raising her children and growing their farm. She loved planting a big garden, caring for her home, sewing clothes, baking bread and caring for their farm animals. Later in life she would often reminisce about how she missed milking cows, especially that little Jersey-Guernsey cross that would lick her face. Olga was a quiet woman, who enjoyed simple things in life and was proud of her efforts to make their farm community and neighborhood a good place to be. She enjoyed working with her neighbor-lady family and friends Beatrice, Sylvia, Olga, Anne and Rosie for a day of perogy making, quilting or chicken butchering, because she new that many hands made light work. She also prided herself on her many years as Secretary-Treasurer for their small church community with St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Weirdale, and so enjoyed working with all the other ladies in the kitchen to make those huge lunches for after their services.
Olga is survived and remembered by her daughter Connie Molnar, son-in-law Andy Molnar, granddaughters Ainsley and Cailsey Molnar all of Saskatoon, sister Lily Cook of Saskatoon, sister Nancy Davies of Houston, Texas, nephew Trevor Cook of Regina, niece Vanessa Ethridge of Saskatoon and many great nieces and nephews, niece and nephew in-laws, cousins and friends.
Olga was predeceased by her husband Joe Boyechko (August 5, 2015), son John Boyechko, mother Mary Kowaliuk, father John Kowaliuk, and brother-in-laws Ray Cook and Steve Boyechko.
