Agriculture Roundup for Wednesday, August 5
SASKATCHEWAN – Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Minister says crops seem to be in pretty good shape right now.
David Marit is hoping for some good combining weather as the harvest is set to begin in a few weeks’ time.
“The heat is welcome for some of the pulse guys, because the pulses were getting a little wet, and the heat sure helps them and they like to stress,” Marit said. “The northwest, we know, has had an abundant amount of rain so the warm weather is very receptive for those folks to dry things out and hopefully bring their crops along.”
Marit farms near Fife Lake and said last harvest brought increased precipitation. He hopes this year’s harvest is drier.
