Mixed Bag of Weather

A mixed bag of weather will produce some sun, rain and possible storms

A gloomy looking weather forecast over the next week may not be as bad as it looks at first glance.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang told northeastNOW while there is plenty of cloud in their forecast for the northeast and Prince Albert regions, the cloud and showers aren’t hovering around consistently.

Lang said they have a lot of weather systems moving through rather quickly, as opposed to a low pressure system sticking around to bring rain, or high pressure to produce consistent sunshine. She said we can expect a mixed bag of unsettled weather into the middle of next week.

“Take the sunny breaks while you can,” Lang advised. “Normally in this kind of weather pattern we’ll start out generally in the day sort of sunnier into the early afternoon, and that’s when the showers and thundershowers tend to develop.”

Lang said the forecast looks pessimistic, but she believes it will be nicer than how it looks on paper.

Temperatures should be near normal through the middle of next week, with slightly cooler than normal highs for a couple of days.

“But as that ridge starts to roll in at the end of next week, temperatures go up, we’re talking…mid to high 20s,” Lang said. “I think that would be welcome to see that, it’s been kind of an unsettled summer so far.”

Lang said the one positive to take from the periodic showers is that it helps keep the wildfire threat low.
