Jul 10, 2020 | 8:00 AM

The man responsible for a bad crash north of Prince Albert last year has taken responsibility for his actions.

August Ermine Bates, 21 has entered guilty pleas to one count of impaired driving causing bodily harm, and one count of having a blood alcohol content over 0.08 causing bodily harm.

Last fall, a couple from Christopher Lake was on their way to a Riders’ game when they met Bates head-on.

Despite suffering a broken hip, Matt Klassen managed to pull his wife from a burning vehicle. He was released from hospital shortly after the crash, but his wife Ashley spent nearly four months at the hospital in Saskatoon.

The guilty pleas were entered during a short hearing Thursday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Defence lawyer Peter Abrametz has requested a pre-sentencing report which will review any personal factors which may have led to his Bates’s decision to drink and drive. The sentencing hearing has been scheduled to take place Sept. 10.
