In her infant and childhood years Simone was raised by her special Aunt and Uncle, Leon and Augustine Menage. She was loved as a sister by Germaine Trottier (Menage) and Maria Vallet (Menage).
Simone also resided and attended school at the St Louis Convent in her developmental years and she would often tell stories about this period of her life
During World War II, Simone met William Beres, an RCAF member, while she was working at her parents Hotel and Dance Hall in Hoey, Sk. They married on August 3rd, 1944 and when the war ended, they took up farming in the Red Deer Hill district. In around 1960, Simone acquired additional farmland in the adjacent MacDowall district, and the farming continued until 1969 when Simone and Bill moved the family to Prince Albert. They resided on 9th street East but continued large personal gardening ventures on their farms in which Simone took a very active role. She loved planting flowers and had a particular affinity for orange marigolds.
Over the years, Simone worked as a clerk at different stores in Prince Albert, including S.S.Kresge’s, The Saan Store, The National Department Store and Sears.
When William passed away in August 1987, Simone continued to live alone in her house on 4th street East Prince Albert. Simone and her widowed brother-in-law Paul Paulsen found companionship and they married in December 1992. They lived primarily at Hill Top Towers in Prince Albert and enjoyed the South Hill Mall community frequenting Smitty’s Reastaurant, McDonalds, Tim Hortons and the South Hill Inn.
When Paul passed away in 2003, Simone continued to live in Hill Top Towers on her own until she transitioned to Good Shepherd Villas on June 1, 2009.
