The Saskatchewan government has announced $28 million to improve roads in 36 rural municipalities.

The provincial funding will cover up to 50 per cent of total project costs to a maximum of $500,000.

This is the first year of a three-year plan to improve 100 rural roads through the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth Program.

Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities president Ray Orb says many rural roads are in dire need of improvement.

The Brandt Group of Companies based in Regina has announced the purchase of GeoShack Canada and the Canadian assets of Inteq Distributors.

GeoShack is the supplier for Topcon Positioning Systems equipment providing sales, service, and rentals of GPS, lasers, survey equipment, and more for agriculture and several other industries.

A separate agreement was announced with Topcon that makes Brandt the exclusive dealer for Topcon construction and geopositioning products for all of Canada.

The agreement is expected to close on June 26.

A southwestern Ontario health unit said a COVID-19 outbreak at a farm in Norfolk County has grown.

The update stated 164 people have now tested positive for the virus and seven people have been admitted to hospital.

In all, 210 people from the farm have been tested with 46 testing negative.

The health unit said it is working with the farm’s management to contain the outbreak in the residences of migrant workers.
