Man accused of murdering half-sister, no stranger to courts

A man accused of murdering his three-year-old half sister is scheduled to have his next court appearance later this week at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

In the meantime paNOW has learned the 21-year-old is facing other charges from a prior violent incident and had been released on bail prior to this latest accusation of murder.

Fabian Morin Jr. was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Emily McCallum-Daniels on April 9, 2020. Police were called to a home in the 800 block of 17th St. W. where they found the young girl unresponsive. Paramedics rushed the girl to hospital in Saskatoon, where she was pronounced deceased later that day.

In addition to the murder charge, Morin is also facing a charge of breach of undertaking.

Last November, Morin was one of six people charged after a violent incident at a residence in Sandy Bay. In that incident, a 26-year-old man was attacked and transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. For his alleged part in the incident Morin was charged with assault causing bodily harm, endangering the life of a person, break-and-enter, and assault.

According to court records, Morin was released from custody Dec. 3, 2019, on a number of conditions including he not visit Sandy Bay. His approved residence upon his release was the home where the recent alleged murder took place.

According to Emily’s obituary on paNOW.com, she had five sisters, and four brothers including Fabian Morin Jr. The private family funeral was held April 17 at Sandy Bay.

Morin’s matters will be discussed Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
