Eight new cases of COVID-19 in province, 176 total active cases

There are eight new cases of COVID-19 in the province, with five in the La Loche area and three in Beauval.

The latest numbers bring the provincial total to 590 with 176 considered active.

There have been 10 new recoveries, bringing the provincial total to 408.

Currently, there are nine patients in hospital, with six receiving inpatient care (one in the North, three in Saskatoon and two in Regina.) There are three patients in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Of the 590 cases, 139 are travellers, 304 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 68 have no known exposures and 79 are under investigation by public health.

Across the province, 48 cases are health care workers (although not all sourced their infections from work), 218 are from the Far North, 163 are from the Saskatoon area, 106 are from the North, 76 are from the Regina area, 15 are from the South and 12 are from the Central region.

There are 83 cases involving people aged 19 and under.

There are 209 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 181 in the 40 to 59 age range, 99 are in the 60 to 79 age range and 18 in the 80-plus age range.

Forty-nine per cent of cases are females and 51 per cent are males.

Six people have died from COVID-19 in the province.

To date, the province has performed 39,233 COVID-19 tests.

Wage Supplement

Lower-income workers at essential care facilities who are eligible can apply for the Saskatchewan Temporary Wage Supplement Program.

The supplement is $400 for each four-week period up to 16 weeks from March 15, 2020 to July 4, 2020. To be eligible for the program, a worker must earn less than $24 per hour at an eligible essential care facility in the four-week period for which the worker applied for the supplement.

The worker must have total earning less than $2,500, including from work outside the eligible essential care facility.

Those facilities include:

• Public and private senior care homes;
• Community-based group and personal care homes;
• Licensed childcare facilities;
• Emergency shelters;
• Transition shelters (short stay/emergency, transition housing);
• Integrated healthcare facilities; and
• Home-care workers providing care to seniors in their own homes.
