Planned power outage affecting 64 customers in P.A.

SaskPower has announced a planned power outage in P.A. this morning.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the power outage will affect 64 customers on the 600 block of 19 to 22 St. E and the 1900 to the 2100 blocks of Sixth Avenue E.

“What we’re doing is we’re replacing some cross arms and other equipment that are close to failing,” SaskPower spokesperson Joel Cherry told paNOW. “By doing this work now — getting this equipment repaired we’re going to avoid a more extensive outage in the future.”

He said the crossarms are on wooden power poles near the substation. If they were to fail, it would cause a long outage, Cherry said.

“We know power outages are always inconvenient, but in this case it’s something that has to be done in order to make sure we can have a reliable supply of power for our customers well into the future,” he said.
