Provincial COVID-19 totals at 271 with 103 recovered

The province’s North has three more COVID-19 cases, bringing the region’s total to 51, while there are four cases in the Far North region.

On Wednesday, April 8, the province announced there are 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the province with 15 more recoveries.

The latest numbers bring the confirmed case total in the province to 271. There are 165 active cases. The provincial recovery total is at 103.

Currently there are eight patients in hospital. Six are receiving inpatient care, with two patients in intensive care.

Of the 271 cases, 119 were travellers, 90 were community contacts (including mass gatherings), 16 have no known exposures and 46 remain under investigation by local public health.

Overall in Saskatchewan, 23 cases are health care workers, although the source of those infections may not all be health care related.

There are 135 cases from the Saskatoon area, 56 are from the Regina area, 51 are from the North, 15 are from the South, 10 are from the central region and four are from the Far North.

There are 15 cases involving people aged 19 and under, and the remainder are adults.

There are 114 cases in the 20 to 44 age range, 94 are in the 45 to 64 age range, and 48 are in the 65-plus age range.

Fifty-four per cent of cases are males and 46 per cent are females.

Three deaths were reported.

To date, 15,621 COVID-19 cases have been performed in the province, making Saskatchewan the province with the second highest rate of testing per capita in the country.
