Danny “Cobra” Taylor
October 21, 1968 ~ April 1, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Taylor announce his passing on April 1, 2020 in Prince Albert, SK.
This may read more like a letter than a traditional obituary, but then those of you who knew Cobes know that he wasn’t really a traditional type of guy. I want to make sure I honour who he is with these words, as we can’t join together in this time to honour him with a memorial service.
Danny’s family was very important to him. As you may know, he has many people to greet him on the other side; all of his grandparents; his parents Joyce and Danny; two of his sisters Tracey and Karen. He will be lovingly remembered by myself, his sister, Pamela, and his 3 nephews, Bret, Taylor, and Jesse.
He was especially close with Bret as he helped raise him. On December 25, 2013, one week after dad died, Danny had a severe stroke with many complications. It happened on bus trip with his other “family”, the Prince Albert Mintos. He was so proud to be a part of that team. He absolutely beamed when they won the Telus cup for the 2005/2006 and the 2006/2007 seasons. The team also won the cup for the 2013/2014 season, but because Cobra wasn’t able to hoist the cup with the team that year, they honoured him by wearing C’s for cobra on their jerseys. The team and his boys were his pride and joy.
Danny loved sports, Spitz, and Slurpees. His favourite places to be were the hockey rink and the baseball diamonds. Before he fell ill, he worked for the city at the Art Hauser Centre. The people he worked with there remained important to him all through his stay at Herb Bassett home.
Danny was a humble and friendly guy. He was well known around P.A. He loved to chat and joke around. Anywhere he went, you could hear, “How’s it going Cobes?” over and over.
I could go on and on about Danny and still forget things, but really how do you capture who someone is in such a short piece of writing. You have to look at the connections they had, the people they loved and the people who loved them. He loved and was loved by so many.
I want to thank everyone who was a part of my brother’s life both before and after his stroke. The list is long, family, friends, everyone in the Herb Bassett home, you all know who you are. Finally, Aunty Diane you have our deepest love and gratitude.
Danny, you will be missed.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
