City day cares remain open, monitoring COVID-19

Mar 16, 2020 | 1:55 PM

In its latest response to the threat of COVID-19, the provincial government has announced the closure of all schools, which also applies to all daycares located in those same buildings.

Licensed day cares outside schools can remain open, but the province has indicated further measures regarding those facilities are being considered and may be implemented at a later date.

In Prince Albert, Hope’s Home, Humpty Dumpty Daycare and Children’s Choice all remain open and representatives assured paNOW they are monitoring the situation closely while taking full precautions such as ensuring children are regularly washing their hands, and equipment is kept thoroughly cleaned.

Programming at Aboriginal Head Start was shut down Monday and the director said she was taking it “day-by-day” while waiting for more information from Health Canada.

L’ecole des Petits cancelled classes this week.

Provincial officials are currently examining options to provide childcare services for individuals that are providing essential services during the COVID-19 response.
