Sandy Bay man charged with second-degree murder
A 31-year-old man from Sandy Bay was charged with second-degree murder after a police investigation into an incident earlier this week.
That’s according to an RCMP media release, which stated local health care providers were called to a residence in the community on Feb. 25 shortly before 10 p.m. to provide medical care to an unresponsive male. It was discovered the man was seriously injured and he was transported to a local health centre.
Police noted lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the male, identified as 33-year-old Darnell Bear, was pronounced deceased.
As the injuries Bear sustained were suspicious in nature, the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit took the lead on the investigation. Investigators were assisted by Sandy Bay and Pelican Narrows RCMP, as well as Prince Albert and Tisdale Forensic Identification Services.
