Titans kick off playoffs with noble win over Royals
The Prince Albert Titans franchise may have waited eight years for a shot back at the playoffs, but they didn’t show any rust or jitters.
Carson Schewaga sure didn’t. He made 58 saves to lift his Titans to a 3-1 victory over the Saskatoon Royals Sunday at the Rod Hamm Arena.
That means the Titans are one win away from sweeping the best-of-three series PJHL Bob Dybvig Division Survivor Series and advancing to the semifinals. They can do just that Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena. If not, a Game 3 will be in back at the Rod Hamm Arena on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Dylan Francis scored the only Royals’ goal 4:27 into the first period on a power play. But it was all Titans after that. Dillan Saworski tied it up midway through the second, before Ben Zultok broke the deadlock with 10:20 left in regulation. Kevin Ledoux added salt to the wound by scoring with one second left to seal it for the Titans.
