Winter Festival to go out with a bang

Feb 20, 2020 | 11:19 AM

Members of the Prince Albert Winter Festival (PAWF) committee hope residents come out and enjoy the final weekend of the annual celebration.

“There’s something for everyone to take part in,” President of PAWF, Bev Erickson told paNOW.

On Thursday evening, the Country North Show takes place at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre at 7 p.m. Moving into Friday, the evening’s activities are highlighted by fireworks at the Alfred Jenkins Field House at 8 p.m.

Erickson noted the fireworks timing works better during winter due to the early start time, “and we’ve moved the area a little bit, so it should be a wonderful show.”

A long list of activities will take place on the last two days of the Winter Festival.

Some of the highlights include the Craft and Trade Show, King and Queen Trapper competition, Sled Dog Races and Arm Wrestling.

Erickson also mentioned the weather shouldn’t keep people away.

“This weekend is supposed to be spectacular weather, so we’re really looking forward to a lot of activities at the outdoor site,” she said.

Erickson said the P.A. Winter Festival is a great way to wrap up the winter as the season changes into spring.
