P.A. sees minor house sale gains

There were some marginal gains in the Prince Albert housing market last month. And while the average sale price went up there’s no indication of a positive trend after months of slowdown.

According to the Saskatchewan Realtors Association (SRA) 15 homes sold last month, which is three more than in January 2019.

That figure is a long way off the five-year average of 29 sales for the month.

The SRA said active listings were down from 613 to 541 and the time it took for a home to sell shortened to just over 98 days from 107.

The average sale price in P.A. moved up to $186,260 from $167,817.

Elsewhere, the SRA said the Saskatoon market started off the year on a positive note with a nine per cent uptick from the previous January at 219 sales. The average home price rose to $326,278.

North Battleford saw a 23 per cent hike in the amount of sales compared to January 2019 with 33 units changing hands. That is above the five-year average.

However, the city’s average price fell over 16 per cent to $139,500.
