P.A. woman vying for chance to be named magazine cover model

Feb 14, 2020 | 5:00 PM

Prince Albert’s Celina Epp hopes she can inspire other curvy people to step out of their comfort zones.

The 44-year-old is competing for a chance to win $25,000 and appear on the cover of Inked Magazine, a tattoo lifestyle magazine distributed worldwide.

“It helps for people to see that and realize they can be just as confident at this age and at this size,” Epp said.

Epp went through quite a transition herself the past two and a half years. After separating from her ex-husband, she lost 40 pounds, and was approached by a friend to try modelling. The idea snowballed and Epp has since appeared in several magazines, and had a chance to travel.

“I never really had the confidence before or really thought about it,” she said, adding she wants to push past what society deems is the right age or size for models.

The Inked Magazine contest runs until April. People can vote once per day, and the person ranked first in their category on Feb. 20 moves on to the next round.

Epp recalled getting her first tattoo when she was 22 and made the decision only more recently to get a chakra tattoo on her back.

“What the tattoo represents is all those energy centres in the body so that’s what resonates with me as a holistic therapist,” she explained.
