Trial possible for Prince Albert murder case

Feb 12, 2020 | 1:00 PM

A court case surrounding a stabbing in Prince Albert’s midtown area may soon be headed to trial.

Silas Starblanket faces a charge of second-degree murder in relation to the death of a 19- year-old man last August. The victim was stabbed multiple times and later died in hospital.

During a hearing at Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday, Starblanket’s lawyer opted not to have a preliminary hearing and instead consented to commit the case for trial at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench.

No dates have beet set yet and no pleas have been entered at this stage. The purpose of a preliminary hearing is to weigh the Crown’s evidence.
