You might be able to crack a few jokes at work but can you get up in front of a crowd and perform under pressure?

Last night six amateur-Saskatchewan comedians took to the stage and competed for the title of ‘Funniest Guy with a Day Job.’

Saskatoon-based Shawn Bourassa did just enough to snatch the title.

Host of the event, Comedian and XFM Morning Co-host Kelly Taylor said he’s a big fan of the event.

“A lot of people always think they want to try standup comedy,” Taylor told paNOW. “ You will never know until you do it. It can be such an adrenaline rush. Guys compare it to skydiving.”

Taylor mentioned how great it is to partner with the Winter Festival and looks forward to performing with Shawn Bourassa.

Bourassa, when he’s not on stage is a Registered Nurse and said he finds his comedy from every situations and stories.

“A lot of times there will be just some event during the day and I’ll just sit on that,” Shawn Bourassa told paNOW.

Moving forward, Bourassa said he really likes his day job, but he’s exploring comedy more and more. He’ll have the opportunity to continue to spread his comedic wings on Feb. 10, as he opens for Kelly Taylor for his show during the Prince Albert Winter Festival at the Rock and Iron.

The Prince Albert Winter Festival kicks off on Feb. 7. One of the first events folks can take in is the Prince Albert Winter Festival Art Show.
