Prince Albert curling rink wins provincials in a ‘Flasch’
The Prince Albert golf and curling club can boast a provincial champion.
The Colton Flasch rink captured the Saskatchewan mixed curling championship Sunday in Meadow Lake, but it wasn’t easy.
Flasch scored a single in the extra end for a 9-8 win over Regina’s Jason Ackerman in a final game that went back and forth with multiple point ends for both teams. Ackerman opened the game with three in the first, and trailing 5-4 at the break. Flasch responded with four in the seventh end forcing Ackerman to score a deuce in the final end to take the game to an extra end.
The championship game was a rematch of the one versus one page playoff won by Ackerman who stole a point in the final end to edge Flasch 5-4.
