2 PA men face steep fines for illegal hunting violations

Two Prince Albert area men are facing some steep fines for illegal hunting activities.

Both men recently pleaded guilty to five separate charges under the Wildlife Act and the Criminal Code of Canada. They were fined a total of $8,951.

After a call was made to the Ministry of Environment’s Turn in Poachers (TIP) line in February of 2015 Conservation officers investigated the calls regarding a bull elk that had been shot out of season on private farmland near St. Louis.

Doug Carl Risling, from Prince Albert pleaded guilty to four charges, including unlawfully hunting elk, unlawful possession of caribou antlers, illegal storage of a handgun and possession of a restricted handgun without a licence.
