Jun 25, 2018 | 12:00 PM

The U19 Aces successfully defended their title as Summerfest champions in Canwood over the weekend.

Over the course of the five games they played, the Aces scored 41 runs and only allowed five. In the final game, they faced the Saskatoon Renegades and won easily with a score of 15-0.

The U14 and U16 Aces squads played in Sherwood Park at the Girls Prairie League Softball championships, where both teams finished first.

The U14 squad played Edmonton River City in their final and, despite being down 2-0 after five innings, managed to rally and win 5-3. The U16 squad played Calgary Kaizen in their final game, narrowly winning with a score of 9-8.

The U19 Astros squad were simply perfect at the Dry Creek Summer Classic fastball tournament in Canwood, winning all five games they played. In the semi-final the Astros doubled the Saskatoon Tint Center Cubs 8-4, and then smashed the Rhein Rockets in the final by a score of 9-2.  In addition to the pride that comes with finishing in first place, the Astros also took home the tournament’s $1,000 first prize.
