Pair of Raiders invited to Belarus camp

A pair of forwards will be heading to the Belarus’ camp in Minsk ahead of the 2020 IIHF World Under-20 Championship Division 1A.

According to a media release from the Raiders, forwards Aliaksei Protas and Ilya Usau are the duo invited to camp.

The 2020 IIHF World U20 Championship Division 1A will begin on Monday, Dec. 9 and will have six teams competing.

This will be Protas’ second year in a row representing Belarus at the tournament and Usau will be there for the first time. Protas contributed two goals and three assists in five games last year for Belarus. Protas also represented Belarus at the 2018 World Under 18 Hockey Championship. Usau also competed twice for Belarus at the U18 scoring two goals and three assists in 10 games between the two years.

Belarus will compete against Austria to open the tournament on Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. CST. The top team from the tournament will move to the top division and earn a spot at the 2021 IIHF World Hockey Championship in Edmonton and Red Deer.
