Saskatoon Lasers Short Course Swim Meet

Prince Albert Sharks swimmers broke club records and achieved personal bests at a swim meet in Saskatoon Saturday.

Nineteen swimmers from Prince Albert Sharks Swim participated in the swim meet..

Natasha Coertze achieved the future stars time standard in the 50-metre freestyle and in the 100-metre individual medley. Sarah Alam broke the club record in 25-metre but-terfly stroke for 13 year old girls and Abigail Anderson-Woodsworth broke the club rec-ord in the 25-metre butterfly stroke for 12 years old girls. Overall, Sharks achieved six “AA” times and 26 ”A” times.

Age-group swimmers achieved countless best personal times.

Highlight from the swim meet included the following:

• Liam Murphy: achieved five “AA” TIME in 50- and 100-metre freestyle, 50-metre backstroke and the 50- and 200-metre breaststroke. He placed first in all his events.

• Luthar Wiberg had a personal best time in the 200-metre individual medley. He achieved “A” times in the 200-metre IM, 50-metre backstroke, 50- and 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre freestyle. He came second in 50-metre back-stroke, third in 100 individual medley and 100-metre breaststroke and fourth in the 200-metre IM and 50-metre freestyle.

• Soren Hansen achieved personal best times in the 50- and 100-metre freestyle, 50- and 100-metre backstroke and 100-metre breaststroke. He achieved an AA time in 50-metre freestyle. He placed second in the 100-metre backstroke, third in 50-metre backstroke and fourth in the 100-metre freestyle.

• Sophie Bilodeau had a personal best time in the 25-metre butterfly. She came first in 25-metre butterfly, 200-metre breaststroke and second in the 50-metre breaststroke.

• Sarah Alam broke the club record in the 25-metre butterfly. She had personal best times in the 50-metre breaststroke and 100-metre freestyle.

• Camryn Cooling had a personal best time in the 400-metre freesyle. She placed third in the 50-metre backstroke and 400-metre freestyle and fifth in the 200-metre backstroke.

• Clara Gelhorn achieved personal best times in 50-metre butterfly and 25-metre breaststroke.

• Ava Helgason had personal best times 50-metre freestyle, 50- and 100- back-stroke, 50- and 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre freestyle. She. achieved six “A” Times.

• Mckenzie Naytowhow had personal best times in 25-metre butterfly and 50- and 100-metre freestyle. She achieved “A” times In the 50= and 100-metre free-style.

• Abigail Anderson-Woodsworth had personal best times in all of her events. She broke the club record in the 25-metre butterfly stroke for 12 years old girls.

• Natasha Coertze had personal best times in 50-metre butterfly, 50-metre breaststroke, 50- and 100-metre freetyle and 100-metre individual medley.. Na-tasha achieved the future stars time standard in the 50-metre freestyle and in the 100-metre IM. She also achieved an “A” time in the 50-metre freestyle.

• Jenna Pschebnicki had personal best times in 200-metre individual medley, 50-metre butterfly, 100-metre freestyle, 200-metre breaststroke and 50-metre free-style.

• Sophie McDonald had personal best times in 50-metre backstroke, 50- and 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre freestyle.

• Avery McDonald had personal best times in 25-metre backstroke, 25- and 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre freestyle.

• Rebecca Fines had personal best times in 25-metre butterfly and 50-metre breaststroke.

• Samantha Caisse had personal best times in 25-metre backstroke and 50- and 100-metre freestyle.

“We are pleased with our swimmers’ results and performance,” said head coach Hazem Hussein. “Way to go, Sharks!”

The club offers a variety of programs to meet all athletes’ potentials and ambitions not only on the competitive level but also on the non-competitive level. Prince Albert Sharks swim club accepts year-round registration.
