November 19, 1917 – September 29, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother, Naomi Tucker on September 29th, 2010, at the age of 92. Naomi was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan to Harry and Winnifred Best on November 19, 1917, and was the second of two children. She married Hal, her highschool sweetheart on April 29, 1942, and together they raised four daughters: Kerry, Margie, Sandy, and Janice. Naomi volunteered with many organizations including Job's Daughters, the Saskatchewan Council for Crippled Children and Adults, Meals on Wheels, the Canadian Cancer Society, CanSurmount, the Anglican Church Women, Prince Albert Health District, the Cooperative Health Centre, and the Holy Family Hospital. Based on her countless hours of volunteering, she was named Prince Albert's Citizen of the Year in 1987, received the Canada Volunteer Award in l988, and the Canada 125 Medal in 1992. Naomi also gave unselfishly to others on an individual basis when needed; and often in later years, enlisted her daughters to drive her to someone's home or the hospital, so that she could visit someone in need, take up a small care package, or make a friendly visit to someone needing a kind word or encouragement. Naomi is survived by her four daughters: Kerry Hubel (partner Doug Kemp), grandsons Chris and Michael (Chantelle), great-grandsons Emrys, and Cohen; daughter Margie Tucker (partner Fred Ozirney), daughter Sandy Tucker, and daughter Janice Peace (husband Mike), and grandson Dylan. Naomi was predeceased by husband Hal Tucker; parents Harry and Winnifred Best, and older brother, Harry. “NO ONE IS MORE CHERISHED IN THIS WORLD THAN SOMEONE WHO LIGHTENS THE BURDEN OF ANOTHER.” Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region officiating.
