S/Cst. Marvin Oscar Stene (retired)- July 14, 1934 – October 22, 2010 Marv passed away at home in Shellbrook at the age of 76 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born in Shellbrook, the oldest child of Oscar and Myrtle and attended school in Deer Ridge. He worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for Saskatchewan Government Airways. In 1962 Marv joined the RCMP Air Services Division where he served as a Special Constable Aircraft Maintenance Engineer until his retirement in 1988. Marv's career took the family to Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Fort Smith and finally Prince Albert. The family lived in PA for several years before buying the farm outside Shellbrook in 1977. Marv will be forever remembered by his beloved wife, Jo-Ann (nee Christensen), his children Kevin, Doug (Tobi), and Lori (Bruce) as well as his grandchildren – Sydney, Evan, Carter, Jaxson and Cameron, his sister, Violet (Harry) Lamberty, his sister in law, Delphine Stene and numerous other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday October 27, 2010 at Knox United Church in Shellbrook. Beau Lac funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Shellbrook Hospital Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
