GAYLE ROGERSON 1938 – 2010. Sheila Gayle Rogerson passed away without pain and in a covey of cedars planted by Gayle and nurtured for years on the north side of her property. She had health issues and had to sell her mother’s condo in Honolulu in June 2007 as the traveling by plane and in the air for about 7 hours had become impossible. She fortunately was able to make the sale before the prime mortgage fiasco devastated property values on both the Islands and the main land in the U.S. and so ended her annual, at least, sojourn to Honolulu since 1966. Gayle was the only child of Warren and Helen (McLean) Rogerson born July 15, 1938 in Calgary and she took all her junior and elementary schooling there and then got her first degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Gayle obtained her Master of Social Work Degree at the University of British Columbia and began her career as a Social Worker in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan region of the department. She was a child welfare supervisor when she was offered a position with CORE Services out of the Saskatoon and Moose Jaw branches with the provincial government and relocated to Saskatoon where she bought a house overlooking the river and giving her a magnificent view of the developments south of the river adjacent to the University properties. Gayle had become the proud owner of a vintage cottage at Round Lake and was a member of the Prince Albert Outing Club until the mice, bats and insects persuaded her to forego that lifestyle for the civilization of Saskatoon and Hawaii. Despite health issues possibly worse then we knew, she was able to maintain her home and independent living up to the day of her totally unexpected death likely on Thursday, November 4, 2010, but amongst the greenery she planted and nourished so faithfully. She had cousins in Alberta and it is believed in Ontario. Gayle did not like funerals and insisted that there not be one but a reception shall be held commemorating Gayle’s life at a later date in both Prince Albert and Saskatoon, her adopted homes after she left Alberta before it was known that Saskatchewan had much to offer. Her long time soul mate, traveling partner and best friend Phil West of Prince Albert and Saskatoon who has been an integral part of her life since 1966 is left to grieve her far too early departure from her mortal coil. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Donations may be made to The Arthritis Society – 110 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or the Canadian Cancer Society – 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Don Moriarty – Funeral Director
