Margaret Stark

MARGARET STARK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Stark on December 8, 2010. Margaret was born December 7, 1923 in St Boniface MB. She grew up on the farm near Meadow Lake SK. After completing her schooling she enlisted and became a lance corporal in the Canadian Women's Army Corps for two years. After the war she married Aloys Stark and together they raised their eight children. They lived in various places throughout Saskatchewan, settling in Hudson Bay from 1955-1970. The “Bay” was a special place in her heart with many dear friends and memories. In 1970 the family relocated to Prince Albert where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed her job at the PA Daily Herald as a proof reader for a number of years. She was a lifelong member of the Royal Purple, she was recognized as a long-time volunteer with the Prince Albert North Stars junior hockey club, she volunteered with the Heart & Stroke Foundation and she was a member of the CWL. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, reading, music and dancing, crossword puzzles and her genealogical research. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was centered around her family and she always had her candy dish fully stocked for the kids. Marg is survived by her children: Carol (Wayne) Duffield, Bryan (Grace), Cathy (Bill) Cotter, Ruth (Denis) Poulin, Joan (Barry) Schrader, Bob, Bill (Rita) and Alan (Sue); 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her sister Joan Ward, her brother Rob (Betty) Stooke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mum was predeceased by her husband Al Stark; parents Richard and Delores Stooke; mother-in-law and father-in-law Albert and Katherine Stark; brother Bill Stooke; sisters-in-law Peggy Stooke and Ruth Marchand; brothers-in-law Jean Marchand and Bert Ward and daughter-in-law Terry Stark. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
